What is your work experience?

Below is a list i have compiled of questions asked on a regular basis. If your question isn't listed below, please get in touch and i will be happy to answer any queries you have.

FAQ

1) I'm after a competent Painter and Decorator. How much experience do you have and how long have you been working in this trade?

A) I have 30 years experience in the trade and 30 with City & Guilds qualification.

2) I would like to see some references, do you have any?

A) Absolutely. I have many happy customers and can provide a number of references on request.

3) Will you come out to give me a quote?

A) I am often quite busy with work and find it difficult to make house visits during the week so for that reason, i have put Saturday's to make house visits.

4) Do you work on your own or as a team?

A) The decorating project is taken care of by myself as i work alone.

5) I see that you are based in 79 how far do you travel?

A) Typically i travel up to 1hr but possibly further depending on the job.

6) Is the price inclusive of materials? Are there any hidden charges such as Vat etc.

A) Work is priced on the area to be painted/paperhanging etc unless a day rate has been agreed with the customer. I am not VAT registered so no VAT will be added to the final bill.

All materials to be purchased by the customer unless agreed different then payment for materials would be required upfront then the labour charge to be settled once the work is complete unless the project is big in which payment in instalments throughout the work would be required.

Where extras or variations to the main price arise, these will be agreed upon before any extra work would take place.

7) Do you provide quotes for insurance work?

A) Yes i can provide you with a quote to present to your insurance company.

8) Will any items of furniture or carpeting be protected while you are working?

A)Carpets and furniture are protected using dust sheets.

Where specified, extra care is taken with sensitive items and i highly suggest that the customer remove or protect delicate items of property.

9) Do you clean up after the work is finished?

A) Absolutely! I take great pride in my  work and this distils into how i leave your property as well. I make sure that everything is cleaned up and tidy before i leave. The property is always left in a state i would expect my own home to be in. As a matter of fact, if you wanted your house cleaning, i have a cleaner that can sort this work out for you too!

10) How long will it take to paint my house?

A) Not an easy question to answer rooms are different sizes and may have different painting and decorating or plastering requirements. The amount of time taken will depend on what services you require i.e. Plastering, painting or hanging wallpaper. I always state the estimated amount of time a job will take when i supply you with a quote for the work. I try very hard to get that timing correct, however, sometimes there are unforeseen circumstances that make a delayed finish to the painting and decorating project inevitable, but i will always update you with the current status of the job.
